Call for Papers for ISSST 2010

E-mail Print PDF

The IEEE Technical Committee on Sustainable Systems and Technology (formerly TC on Electronics and the Environment) and the IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology are pleased to announce the 2010 IEEE International Symposium on Sustainable Systems and Technology from May 16-19, 2010 in Washington, DC, USA.  The call for papers (CFP) is available here.

This is the premier event for presenting and learning about environmental and sustainability topics as they pertain to the life cycle of engineered products, their applications, and society.  This year's event is a key component of IEEE's Presidential Sustainability Initiative.

The 2010 program will feature the latest in environmental design, manufacturing, new technologies, end of life management, information and communication services, emerging technologies, education, and policy from world leaders in industry, academia, consulting, and public policy areas. This year's focus area will be Design for Sustainability, including coverage of emerging technologies and their impact on energy, materials, and systems across the life cycle. Of particular interest are non-traditional technologies being considered in emerging products (such as fuel cells and nanomaterials) and future trends in end-of-life management for both new processes and new products.  A student paper competition will bestow prizes to top papers.

This year's event will also build on a highly successful poster session.  The poster session is open to all symposium participants as an opportunity to share scholarly work as a visual display, even in its early stages, and to interact with colleagues and gather feedback.   An element of the poster session will be a student poster competition honoring outstanding posters created and presented by students.  Cash prizes are awarded in both competitions after a review of entrants by a panel of judges. All participants in each competition receive gifts (first authors only).

Details for the conference, abstract submission, and student competitions are available on this website.

We look forward to receiving your paper, and seeing you in Washington.

Sincerely,

Scott Matthews and Braden Allenby, Conference Co-Chairs
